Psi Chi

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Psi Chi functions as a federation of chapters located at over 1,000 colleges and universities in the USA and Canada.

UCSC’s Psi Chi chapter has over 100 undergraduate (non-alumni) members and is active in improving the academic experience of psychology majors on campus as well as bettering the Santa Cruz community.

Psi Chi recognizes excellence in both the scientific study and practical application of psychology. In addition to honoring academic achievement, members are supported in their continued professional development through research involvement, leadership opportunities, and service to the community.

Internationally, Psi Chi has two major goals:
1. Academic recognition
2. Creative development through nourishing professional growth

Psi Chi is also committed to supporting a diverse membership and fostering inclusive participation in psychological research, education, and service.

Locally, our three goals are to:
1. Create a community of high achieving psychology majors.
2. Improve the learning experience of both Psi Chi members and UCSC psychology members.
3. Help the larger Santa Cruz community.

At UCSC, we strive to provide opportunities for academic collaboration, professional exploration, and meaningful dialogue that strengthens both our members and the broader campus community. Through weekly events, members participate in fundraisers, workshops, guest speaker events, professional development sessions, information nights, and social gatherings, which bring these goals to life. We welcome all eligible students who are passionate about psychology to join our chapter and become part of our growing community.
